How does the leadership
of GPBC function? We are:

 •    Congregationally Governed: Our Church membership, aided by the Holy Spirit, has final authority over boards, budgets, property, and the hiring and firing of pastoral staff.  As we prayerfully partner together for the sake of the gospel, we, as the Body of Christ, seek to honor God in all of our decision making.

•    Pastor-Led: The Pastor is first and foremost called by God to lead and guide His Church in truth.  The Pastor works in partnership with the Deacons to fulfill Georgia Plain Baptist Church’s Covenant and commitments.  The Pastor also seeks to develop and lead the congregation in becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
(Ephesians 4:12-13)

 •    Overseen by Deacons: Deacons are called by God and elected by the membership to serve in a capacity of oversight and partnership with the Pastor. They cooperate with the Pastor to care for the members of the Church, protect sound doctrine, and assist in mobilizing the Church toward fulfilling its mission .
(Acts 20: 28-35, 1 Timothy 3:1-13, Titus 1:5-9)

•    Trustee-Stewarded: Trustees are called by God and elected by the membership to prayerfully and diligently care for the physical resources of Georgia Plain Baptist Church. They advise the Church on finance and property matters in order to faithfully care for the things God has given us.
